Kidney Cleanse at Home


 

Kidneys are very important parts of the human body as they regulate blood pressure, filter blood, and expel wastes from the system. When they are infected with disease or get injured, other organs are involved.  We can live healthy with only one kidney – as some people do – but when both kidneys fail, we could never survive.  Therefore, it is important to take care of our kidneys, making sure that they function well so we may live healthy.  One way of keeping our kidneys healthy is to do kidney cleanse regularly and this could also help prevent any unwanted kidney infection.

A kidney cleanse is any procedure meant to detoxify the kidneys by drinking a large amount of liquid and keeping watch on food intake to promote healthy kidney function. Kidney cleansing, which involves a natural regimen based on healthy diet, can be performed in three days – or three weeks, depending on individual choices – by following a specific program.

Basically, during the kidney cleansing period, your diet should involve elimination of some popular foods and beverages, like coffee, sodas, and alcoholic drinks as these can slow down the kidneys’ function to flush out toxins.  Instead, you have to drink plenty of pure drinking water.  Likewise, you must replace protein-rich meats with whole grain protein sources, like flax seed, sunflower seeds, and almonds. Foods that are high in sodium and rich in oxalate like chocolate, sesame seeds, nuts and sweet potatoes should also be skipped from the diet.

Aside from water, you must take in plenty of other liquids throughout the kidney cleansing period, particularly:

Unsweetened or organic cranberry juice.  You should drink 10 to 12 ounces of unsweetened or organic cranberry juice with breakfast and lunch.  Cranberry juice lessens the calcium content in the urine; thus, lowering the circumstances of developing kidney stones.

Potassium juice.  An intake of at least 12 ounces of potassium juice between breakfast and lunch is recommended as it effectively acts as cleansing tonic even as it keeps you energized.  Potassium juice can be extracted from carrots, celery, spinach, parsley, and sea greens.

Watermelon seed tea.  Drink one cup of watermelon seed tea between lunch and dinner, as this diuretic enhances a normal and active kidney function, aids in digestion, and flushes out toxins right before the final meal of the day.

Liquid chlorophyll.  Take 8 ounces of liquid chlorophyll with lunch for proper respiratory function and improved immune system. Chlorophyll also aids other cleansing agents in purifying blood.

Carrot juice or cranberry juice. Drink 8 ounces of carrot or cranberry juice with dinner to facilitate regular urinary patterns.  Since some people are allergic to carrot juice, you may substitute it with cranberry juice, which is equally effective.

Kidney cleansing tea.  Drink one cup of kidney cleansing tea after dinner or before bedtime for digestion and cleansing of your system even as you sleep.  This type of tea can be sourced from any tea as long as it contains peppermint leaves, juniper berries, corn silk, or dandelion leaves.

Even as you finish observing the three-day cleansing period, you still have to carry on with your healthy diet. Organic fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and high-quality protein sources should be a mainstay in your regimen.  Besides, your water intake should be at least 8 to 10 glasses per day.

Meanwhile, many people opt to do their kidney cleanse over a period of three weeks. Nevertheless, whatever your preference may be, kidney cleanse is all about limiting the access of toxins into our body to establish a healthier life.
